Welcome to my Blog!

Welcome to my blog, "Your Nutrition Intuition."  I chose this title because nutrition is highly individualized.  When I say "nutrition," I am not only referring to the food we put into our bodies, I am referring to everything that we allow to become a part of ourselves.  This includes the obvious diet and exercise, the current conditions of our interpersonal relationships, our relationships with nature and personal divinity, our creativity and imagination, our moods and perspectives, gratitude, and personal goals, among many other aspects of life that affect us daily.  "Nutrition" is everything that feeds you.  And lastly, when I say "intuition," I am referring to the power each of us has within ourselves to access a deeper "self."  Each of us holds all the answers to all of what ails us.  We just need to look for the answers and seek support from those willing to help.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with those who choose to follow my blog as well as reading any comments that any of you may have.

  1. Mariah,
I really enjoyed reading your post. I like your take on nutrition which encompasses every aspect of our lives. I was wondering if you would share some of the people, places, or things that have influenced your way of thinking.

    1. Hi Kathleen,

I would be happy to share the influences on my nutrition perspective. First I would have to certainly mention my Dad. Every since I was little, he always told me that it was very important to be physically and mentally strong and remain active. (I was the only kid in first grade that was able to climb the rope all the way to the top and do 12 pull ups...) Since then, I have accomplished several other physically demanding feats. Next, I would have to mention my husband, who is possibly the most positive person I know! I really have no idea where I would be if I never met him! He has been such a positive influence on my life. I would also have to mention the Army. The Army has taught me to adapt and overcome, accept change, expect change, and maintain physical fitness. Tosca Reno, the nutrition expert, has also influenced my view on food and fitness. And lastly, I would have to mention the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where I received my Health Coach certification. And also Kaplan University. These institutions have opened my eyes to the many facets of overall health and wellbeing.
So, what where would you give credit to your view on nutrition?

  2. Hello Mariah,
I can certainly relate to how difficult at times it can be to actually do this method of relaxation. I find the greatest difficulty is not so much as finding and taking the time; it is being able to clear my mind of all the distracting thoughts which seem to flood my brain! It takes real effort to be able to concentrate well enough on each step. I have rarely ever succeeded.

    1. Hi Daniel,

Clearing the mind is certainly the hardest part! That is where I experienced difficulty as well. I had an appointment that I needed to go to, and because there was not a "remaining time" identification on this exercise, I had no idea how long it was going to be, and I did not want to be late, so I really couldn't allow myself to fully relax and take away as much as I could from this exercise. Perhaps there will be others throughout the course that you and I can take more from.

  3. Hey Mariah!

I enjoyed reading your blog! Congratulations on expecting your first! I agree with you wholeheartedly on your outlook of nutrition. It is not just about the food you eat, but about everything in your life. I cannot tell you how important (beyond diet and exercise) it is to have relationships in your life that are positive and lift us up. My relationships in life are my safe place and I cannot imagine my life with out them!
